Foot and Ankle training
We focus on understanding how your feet and ankles function in everyday activities, using this detailed analysis to pinpoint any structural or functional issues. Our approach integrates principles of minimalist footwear and barefoot training, helping to strengthen and align the foot and ankle while promoting natural, efficient movement. By retraining the body’s mechanics, we help prevent further injury and enhance overall mobility.
Why Focus on the Foot and Ankle
As a teenager Dr. Zander badly broke his left foot and ankle when skateboarding, resulting in a downward spiral of lower leg instability, resulting in recurrent injuries of both ankles and feet, breaking both feet a total of 2 times each, as well as chronic ankle sprains and a high ankle sprain on his left ankle. By my mid-20s I had profoundly flat feet, chronic ankle, foot, and knee pain, and a moderately unstable left ankle. Unable to run or hike comfortably I sought out care from podiatrists who put me in rigid insoles, and various physical therapists who helped some, but still failed to address the underlying issue, that my feet were weak, unconditioned, and I was utilizing footwear that helped mask the problem but was unfortunately only making my problem worse. My ankle and foot pain got so bad that I was unable to be barefoot comfortably, and I could only wear high-top boots that helped support my ankle. It got to the point where I was strongly considering surgery.
It wasn't until I started training my feet
